Returned home from what might be the wettest camping trip i’ve ever been on this weekend. It didn’t rain all day everyday, but it did rain everyday, and when it rained it poured, and it poured for hours. This pic is really dark, i know, but what you’re looking at is the road on the left, about 14” deep with standing rainwater. The blue dumpster is on the roadside of the curb, and you see the water continues well onto the grass. Another hour or two it might have made it up to the door of the car. The drysacks and new marmot jacket i invested in two days earlier in anticipation of rain was some of the best money i’ve ever spent. I returned home with all my electronics in working order, and we slept on dry sheets in a dry tent every night! Setting up camp i felt like one of those guys in the rubber suit on a fishing boat, trying to perform their task in the storm. Emily was a trooper, right there helping the whole time, and we managed to get the tent up and keep it dry. It was as fun as it was frustrating, all in all a terrific weekend.
