I just finished watching an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and found myself charmed by the clever and simplistically niave comedy that show was all about. Reminiscing not only about the show, which i haven’t seen in probably 10 years (woah i’m 24) , but also about memories of doing exactly what they do in the show with friends and family years and years ago. Even the really REALLy bad jokes and one liners make me chuckle in this setting, and i noticed that if i had seen the same thing written into something recent I’d probably roll my eyes disdainfully and write it off as a failure. I don’t fancy myself an expert on comedy, but what i absorbed from this is that while it is comforting to know that i still enjoy the same things i enjoyed as a kid, It upsets me to realize how defeatist we can get as we get older.
Also, you should revisit the show if you’d ever been a fan. It’s a lot of fun.
